The Sparrow, a small bird,
who eats a little at a time.
Jessie Reeder, Leader
The Sparrow Bible Study Group has been a part of Rust United Methodist Church since 1994. At that time a few members began meeting each week for an hour of prayer and an hour of Bible study.
I was asked to serve as teacher of the class. Those in attendance wanted to know the foundation of Salvation through Jesus Christ. The book of Romans contains all information needed. So we began our endeavor.
In 2006 when I was house-bound the group decided to move the class to my home and it has continued to meet there. The book of Romans was our study and focus for over a year. Next we studied "Women of the Bible,' 'The Master's Men': 'The Holy Spirit." Presently we are in the Book of Revelation.
We use the "Inductive Bible Study - Precept upon Precept." An Overview of the Book of the Bible is studied, getting the big picture of the Book to be studied. The Biblical book is read and reread, identifying the characters, events, purpose, the theme, marking key word and phrases. This is called Observation.
The next step is to cross reference the scriptures, allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture, answering questions of “Who, What, Where, When and How.” This is call Interpretation.
The final step is Application, when one knows what God says, what He means, and how to put His truths into Practice, one will be equipped for every circumstance of life (Kay Arthur, Precept upon Precept). Our Goal is II Timothy 2:15 and II Peter 1:3-8 NIV.
The Sparrows Bible Study is open to all who wish to attend. Please call Rust UMC at 774-4905 [or email@example.com] for further information.
